The History of Android, from being Rejected by Samsung to being Bought by Google

Smartphone users must be familiar with the operating system which is often named by various names of sweet foods. Yes, who else if not Android. The operating system developed by Google has been named the most widely used OS in the world.

In 2019, Android users reached 1.6 billion users. According to statista data, in January 2021, Android has further established itself as the most dominant operating system, by controlling almost 72 percent of the smartphone OS market share.

However, did you know that initially Android was not designed as a mobile operating system, but was designed for digital cameras. This was revealed when one of the founders of Android, Andy Rubin, delivered a speech in Tokyo in 2013.

Rubin said that Android was originally designed for use in digital cameras. However, eventually changed his mind and developed Android as a mobile operating system.

The first version of Android 1.0 was released to the public in November 2007 ago. Since then, Android has released at least 10 major versions of Android.
